About

Born in the US and based in Madrid, Ben trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before living in Central America and New York City, where he exhibited widely. In Madrid, he has shown at galleries including Studio RFG and Galeria MadisMad, often in collaboration with the collective ¡Qué Escándalo!

Ben makes images that show men in queer-coded situations with subtle homoreroticism referencing old Master compositions, in order to highlight identities that have been left out of art history. Working across painting, mixed media, and photography, Ben has recently turned to cyanotype as a central medium. His work maintains an interest in gay male visibility while drawing source material from vintage photography, pornography, sports imagery, and found images.

Current compositions are built from photographs and found design elements realized through cyanotype, navigating tension between light and shadow, focus and dissolution — reflecting an ongoing engagement with visual memory and queer experience.
